The ice bin will hold about 4 pounds of ice. Set the freezer control to a colder setting to improve ice production. Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. Sometimes an ice cube or other object may be preventing the signal arm from freely moving. Additionally, ensure the ice bin itself is pushed all the way to the rear of the shelf. If this comes slightly out of place, it may prevent the signal arm from dropping all the way down and producing ice as it should. Feel free to discard the ice and allow a fresh supply to be produced. TIP: Ice production should be used at least twice a week to keep the cubes separated. This usually is due to the water filter being clogged or a restricted water supply. It is recommended to change the water filter first but if the condition still occurs then you want to check for a saddle valve, water valve not turned on all the way or kinked water supply line. Remember, smaller ice cubes or ice chips jamming in the ice maker may be a sign that your water filter needs changing. As the water filter becomes older (6 months or more) it can become clogged with particles and less water is delivered to the ice maker. The ice maker can’t fill every cube in the ice maker mold, leading to small cubes or ice chips that can get caught between the ice ejector blades and the stripper.

The dryer needs space around it for proper ventilation to support the gas burner. Do not stack or place laundry or rugs against the front or back of the dryer. To install a dryer in a closet or alcove, please refer to the Installation Instructions. Overloading the dryer can cause its motor to overheat. If this is the case, allow the motor to cool down for 30 minutes. If letting the motor cool down and reducing the load size does not resolve the issue, contact your authorized service provider. On electric dryers, a thermal limiter switch automatically turns off the motor in the unlikely event of an overheated situation. If this is the case, you’ll need to contact a service provider to replace the thermal limiter switch. How can I prevent this? Try using the Auto Dry cycle instead of a Timed Dry cycle, and follow care instructions on the fabric labels. For best results, follow these suggestions. We appreciate your patience. Serial numbers beginning with KK0, KN0 or XK0 should use the 2.0 app. All others should use the original Frigidaire Smart Appliance app. The Frigidaire - Smart Appliances app is for older appliances and will be kept active until we migrate those existing customers to the new Frigidaire 2.0 app in late 2020. Once migration is complete, users will be notified to download the latest version of the app. Standard text rates may apply if you opt to receive text message notifications. You will be prompted to enter your email address and you will be sent a link to reset your password. NOTE: Your account through the Frigidaire app is different from an account created on www.Frigidaire.com.

The good news is that as soon as power is restored, the appliance will should automatically re-connect and function normally without user intervention. You may receive a “connection lost” notification in the Frigidaire app. You will use the same email address and password that you used during the initial set up. Before doing so, the smart appliance will need to be removed from the Frigidaire app and taken through a Factory reset to clear the memory. To conduct the Factory reset, follow the steps listed below: You can then create a new account using a valid email address and password of at least 6 characters and one number (no spaces). Once you have accessed the Frigidaire app, press “Add My First Appliance” so you can be led through the connection steps. App store is a service mark of Apple Inc. Google Play is a trademark of Google Inc. Amazon, Alexa and all related logos are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. What can I do? If it’s not, you will need to add a password Some dual-band or mesh networks may need to be manually switched to a 2.4 GHz network. Please contact your network provider if you are unsure of your network type. However, you will need to use the same email and password to login. What can I do to fix this? The schedule can be controlled from the Frigidaire app, and the appliance will keep the last known schedule in its memory until the schedule is turned off. The previous schedule will remain in the appliance’s memory until a new schedule is set. If this is not done, the appliance will continue to run on the last programmed schedule. What should I do? This is normal and you should be able to move forward. If the phone does not stay connected to the network, try checking your network settings for features like “Smart Network Switch”, “switch to mobile data” or “avoid weak networks”. If these features are active, they may impede the connection and should be temporarily turned off. What next steps should I take?

Push or turn the start button and hold it for two seconds. To be sure it’s correctly positioned, simply turn the knob until the indicator is a little further into the cycle. The door must be completely closed for the dryer to run. Check to be sure the plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. Note: Do not use an extension cord. If this is the case, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse (but do not increase the fuse capacity). If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us. Depending on your model, you may want to use the “Wrinkle Release” or “Extended Tumble” options. Clothes need room to tumble freely. As soon as the cycle is complete, hang or fold your items. To remove wrinkles from clean, dry clothes, select “Instant Refresh” cycle (available on some models) or tumble them on low heat for 10 or 15 minutes. You can fasten these items or turn garments inside out to reduce the sounds. If you think this is the issue, stop the dryer and check for any objects in the drum. If none are present and the sounds continue, we recommend running an empty load to see if the noise continues. This will allow you to determine if the noise is coming from the unit or an article that was being dried. If the noise is still present during the empty load, please contact us. Can I do anything about this? You can also periodically wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water to remove any residue, and then dry it thoroughly before replacing. Note: Do not operate the dryer without the lint screen in place, as this could damage it. If the Air Fluff cycle or temperature is selected, the dryer will tumble without heat. Generally you’ll want to select low or medium heat, and the Normal Dry setting. Select More Dry for loads requiring more time. A medium or low heat setting is safe for permanent press, delicate, and knit items, but will require longer drying periods. If your dryer is overloaded or too empty, it will take longer to dry your clothes.

Items need room to tumble freely in order to dry well, and you also need enough items in the drum for proper tumbling. Dry items of similar fabric and weight in the same load. Drying times will be longer in areas where humidity is high. You can use a dehumidifier near the dryer if needed. To locate the moisture sensor bars, please refer to your Complete Owner’s Guide. Fabric softener sheets can leave a residue on the moisture sensor bars in the dryer, which can inhibit their ability to accurately sense wet clothes. Remove the residue by wiping the moisture sensor bars with rubbing alcohol. If your dryer is installed in a closet or under a counter, it might not be getting the ventilation needed for proper drying. Be sure the exhaust duct is not clogged. If the problem persists, consider having it cleaned by an authorized service provider. Note: To avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, never operate a gas dryer without an exhaust duct that vents outdoors. Use an approved vent hood with a swing-out damper that opens when the dryer is in operation and closes automatically when the dryer stops. Do not attach a screen over the vent hood opening, and maintain a minimum clearance of 12 inches between the bottom of the vent hood and the ground. Using 208-volt can increase drying times. Refer to the Installation Instructions. What should I do? If one of these is tripped or blown, the drum may turn but the heater will not operate. If this is the case, you’ll need to reset the circuit breaker or replace the house fuse. Check the cycle selector—if the Air Fluff cycle or temperature is selected, the dryer will tumble without heat. Be sure the gas supply valve to gas dryer is open. (See Installation Instructions for details). If you have a gas dryer and your LP gas tank is empty, refill or replace the tank. If there has been an interruption in the natural gas supply, call your natural gas company.

If you see this message, you can either wait or go back into your network settings and manually connect to your 2.4 GHz home network. Then, go back to the Frigidaire app. Appliance added! If your refrigerator has not been used for a period of time (during moving for example), it is recommended to change the filter before reinstalling the refrigerator. Remember to order the same filter type that is currently in your refrigerator. If you need more help, please contact us. Replacing the air filter will ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odors. You may want to adjust this time period depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store in your refrigerator.

For some models: Adjusting the refrigerator temperature control “0” turns off the compressor and prevents the refrigerator from cooling but does not disconnect the power to the light and electronics. To completely turn off your refrigerator, you must unplug it. We appreciate your patience. The large capacity and fast dry times of our newer models save on energy use and time. Once you have registered, you will receive useful information including easy access to your warranty and product care tips. To earn the Energy Star rating, products must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Energy. These products can help save money on your electricity bill and protect the environment by reducing harmful emissions from power plants, as well as providing all the features and quality you expect. This label signifies that the product passed stringent standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy. Additionally, manufacturers are required to display their product’s test results on the Energy Star label. The label will tell you about the product’s efficiency level, including approximately how much energy the appliance uses, its average annual operating cost and how its energy use compares with that of similar products. Your Complete Owner’s Guide will give you more information on those applicable to your model. You can also wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water to remove any residue, and then dry it thoroughly before replacing.

NOTE: If the ice maker is ON and the water supply is not connected, the water valve will make loud chattering noises. Adjusting refrigerator control changes temperatures in both the refrigerator and the freezer. Adjusting the refrigerator control changes temperatures in both the refrigerator and the freezer. To maintain temperatures, a fan circulates air in the refrigerator and freezer and therefore, it is important not to block air vents with food items. This could disrupt the air flow and cause temperature issues.

A compression nut and ferrule (sleeve) for connecting a copper water supply line to the ice maker inlet valve. Ensure that your water supply line connections comply with all local plumbing codes.

Cool Drawer (some models) Some models are equipped with a Cool Drawer for storage of luncheon meats, spreads, cheeses, and other deli items. This drawer does not have a separate temperature control. Chill Drawer temperatures can be adjusted by sliding the Chill Drawer Temperature Control in either direction. Use this pan for short term storage of bulk meat items. If meats are to be kept longer than one or two days, they should be frozen. The Chill Drawer is fixed and cannot be moved up or down. If fruits or vegetables are to be stored in the Chill Drawer, set the Chill Drawer Temperature Control to a warmer setting to prevent freezing. This system needs to be completely filled with water when first connected to an external supply line. For proper dispenser operation, recommended water supply pressure should fall between 30 psi and 100 psi. Excessive pressure may cause water filter to malfunction.Keep the glass in this position until water comes out of the dispenser. How Huch Ice Will a Rear Hounted Ice Haker Produce in 24 Hours. A rear mounted ice maker will produce 3 to 4 pounds of ice every 24 hours, depending on usage conditions. Ice is produced at a rate of 8 cubes every 75 to 90 minutes. Using the Ice Maker after Installation Before making ice for the first time, be sure to prime the water supply system. Air in new plumbing lines can result in two or three empty ice maker cycles. Furthermore, if the system is not flushed, the first ice cubes may be discolored or have an odd flavor. Your ice maker is shipped from the factory with the wire signal arm in the ON position (side mounted) or with the switch turned ON (rear mounted). If the ice maker is not turned off and the water supply is not connected, the water valve will. The water dispenser has a built-in device that shuts off the water flow after three minutes of continuous use. To reset this shutoff device, simply release the dispenser paddle.

Ice Production: What to Expect How much ice will a side-mounted ice maker produce in 24 hours. A side mounted ice maker will produce 4 to 4.5 pounds of ice every 24 hours, depending on usage conditions. Ice is produced at a rate of 8 cubes every 75 to 90 minutes. The ice maker also has a built-in wire signal arm, which automatically stops ice production when the ice bin is full. DO NOT use this signal arm to manually stop the ice maker. If you have a side mounted ice maker you may also experience hollow cubes partially frozen cubes with water inside. When these cubes are harvested, they break open and spill water over the other ice cubes in the ice container, forming a solid mass of ice. As the water filter nears the end of its useful life and becomes clogged with particles, less water is delivered to the ice maker during each cycle. The ice maker can't fill every cube in the ice maker mold, leading to small cubes or chips that can get caught between the ice ejector blades and the stripper. Remember, if your ice maker is jamming with small ice cubes or it's been six months or longer since you last changed your water filter replace the water filter with a new one. Poor quality household water may require the filter to be changed more frequently. Empty the ice container as explained below. Occasionally shake the ice container to keep ice separated. If your refrigerator is not connected to a water supply or the water supply is turned off, turn Off the ice maker., If you need a large quantity of ice at one time, it is best to get cubes directly from the ice container. The following sounds are normal when the ice maker is operating: Motor running Ice dropping into ice container Water valve opening or closing Ice loosening from tray Running water, When dispensing ice, you will hear a snapping or clicking sound when the ice chute opens and closes. To avoid splashing, dispense ice into your container before adding liquids.

The high temp alarm may also be illuminated until a safe operating range temperature has been reached. The alarm will reset after two minutes or when the ice cube is removed and the set key is pressed to reset. Sabbath Mode The Sabbath Mode is a feature that disables portions of the refrigerator and its controls in accordance with observance of the weekly Sabbath and religious holidays within the Orthodox Jewish community. In the Sabbath Mode, the High Temp alarm is active for health reasons. If a high temperature alarm is activated during this time, for example due to a door left ajar, the alarm will sound intermittently for about two minutes. The alarm will then silence on its own and a red high temperature icon will display. The high temp icon will continue to display, even if the door is closed, until the Sabbath mode is exited and the icon reset. For further assistance, guidelines for proper usage and a complete list of models with the Sabbath feature, please visit the web at http:\\www.star-k.org. While in Sabbath Mode, neither the lights, dispenser, nor the control panel will work until Sabbath Mode deactivated Refrigerator stays in Sabbath Mode after power failure recovery. It must be deactivated with the buttons on the control Although you have entered the Sabbath Mode, the ice maker will complete the cycle it had already initiated. The ice cube compartment will remain cold and new ice cubes can be made with standard trays. Shelves may break suddenly ifnicked, scratched, or exposed tosudden temperature change. Allow the glass shelves to stabilize toroom temperature before cleaning. Do not wash in dishwasher. Cantilever Shelf Adjustment Refrigerator shelves are easily adjusted to suit individual needs. Before adjusting the shelves, remove all food. Cantilever shelves are supported at the back of the refrigerator. To adjust cantilever shelves: O Lift front edge up. O Pull shelf out.

Replace the shelf by inserting the hooks at rear of the shelf into the wall bracket. Lower the shelf into the desired slots and lock into position. SpillSafe TM glass shelves (some models) catch and hold accidental spills. In some models, the SpillSafe TM shelves slide out for easy access to food and for fast cleaning. The shelves slide out independently of their mounting brackets. Just pull the front of the shelf forward. Shelves can be extended as far as the stopper will allow but are not removable from their mounting brackets. Cantilever Glass Shelf Cantilever Sliding Glass Shelf The dairy compartment, which is warmer than the general food storage section, is intended for short term storage of cheese, spreads, or butter. Fresh Drawers with Humidity Control (some models) The fresh drawers, located under the bottom refrigerator shelf, are designed for storing fruits, vegetables, and other fresh produce. The fresh drawers feature humidity control which allows you to adjust the humidity within the drawer. This can extend the life of fresh vegetables that keep best in high humidity. Wash items in clear water and remove excess water before placing them in the crispers. Items with strong odors or high moisture content should be wrapped before storing. Crisper Humidity Control Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the humidity control set on Higher Humidity, or in a drawer without a Humidity Control. This keeps incoming air to a minimum and maintains maximum moisture content. Crispers Crispers allow you the flexibility to store any manner of items including fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. Crispers do not feature humidity controls. Crisper Drawer Door storage Door bins and shelves are provided for convenient storage of jars, bottles, and cans. Frequently used items can be quickly selected. Some models have door bins that can accommodate gallon-sized plastic drink containers and economy-sized jars and containers. Some bins are adjustable for maximum storage capacity.

It is normal for ice to fill to the top of the ice bin. Turn Off the ice maker when cleaning the freezer and during vacations. If you turn Off the ice maker for a long period of time, you should also turn off the water supply valve. Chemicals from a malfunctioning water softener can damage the ice maker. If the water supply to your refrigerator is softened, be sure the softener is maintained to work properly. To clean the ice maker: 1 Turn Off the ice maker. 2 3 4 5 Remove the ice bin by lifting up and out. Empty and carefully clean the ice bin with mild detergent. Rinse with clear water. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners. Allow the ice bin to dry completely before replacing in the freezer. Remove ice chips and clean the ice bin shelf and the freezer door chute. 6 Replace the ice bin. Turn On the ice maker to resume ice production. Remove and empty the ice storage bin if: An extended power failure (one hour or longer) causes ice cubes in the ice storage bin to melt and freeze together, jamming the dispenser mechanism. You do not use the ice dispenser frequently. Ice cubes will freeze together in the bin, jamming the dispenser mechanism. Remove the ice storage bin and shake to loosen the cubes or clean as explained above. Auc NEVER use an ice pick or similar sharp instrument to break up the ice. This could damage the ice storage bin and dispenser mechanism. When removing or replacing the ice bin, DO NOT rotate the auger in the ice bin. If the auger is accidentally rotated, you must realign the auger by turning it in 90 degree turns (see below) until the ice bin fits into place with the drive mechanism. If the auger is not properly aligned when replacing the ice bin, the refrigerator will only dispense Crushed Ice. The freezer door may also not close properly causing warm air to leak into the freezer.. The water filter system filters all dispensed drinking water, as well as the water used to produce ice.

Air FHter (some models) The air filter is located at the top of the fresh food compartment next to the water filter. Replacing the Air Filter In general, you should change the air filter every six months (the filter status light on the control panel prompts you to replace the filter after six months) to ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odors. You may want to adjust this time period depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store in your refrigerator. To replace your PureSeurce Ultra TM air filter: 1 Pull the air filter housing straight out. 2 Remove the old filter and discard it. 3 Unpack the new filter and place it inside the housing. Water Filter The water filter is located at the top right side of the fresh food compartment. Replacing the Water Filter In general, you should change the water filter every six months to ensure the highest possible water quality. If your refrigerator has not been used for a period of time (during moving for example), change the filter before reinstalling the refrigerator. 4 Slide the housing back into position. Frigidaire recommends that you order extra filters when you first install your refrigerator, and that you replace your filters at least once every six months.Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected waters that may contain filterable cysts. Slide the old water filter cartridge straight out of the housing and discard it. Unpackage the new filter cartridge. Using the alignment guide, slide it gently into the filter housing until it stops against the snap-in connector at the back of the housing. Push firmly until the cartridge snaps into place (you should hear a click as the cartridge engages the snap-in connector). Press a drinking glass against the water dispenser while checking for any leaks at the filter housing. Any spurts and sputters that occur as the system purges air out of the dispenser system are normal.

8 9 After filling one glass of water, continue flushing the system for about four minutes. Turn On the ice maker. These sounds normally indicate your refrigerator is operating correctly. Some surfaces on floors, walls, and kitchen cabinets may make these sounds more noticeable. Following is a list of major components in your refrigerator and the sounds they can cause: A Evaporator Refrigerant through the evaporator may create a boiling or gurgling sound. The hollow cubes break open in the bin and leak their water onto existing ice, which causes it to freeze together.Ice should be used at least twice weekly to keep the cubes separated. This generally occurs when the ice maker does not get enough water. This is usually the result of a clogged water filter or restricted water supply. Replace the water filter and if the condition still occurs check for a Saddle Valve, water valve not turned on all the way or kinked water supply line. This guide contains important safety symbols and instructions. Please pay special attention to these symbols and follow all instructions given. Some cleaners can produce harmful fumes if applied to a hot surface. Always turn the element off before removing the pan. You may switch from either coil setting at any time. It turns on when the control is set, and stays on until the control is turned off. The hotsurface indicatorlight, located under the glass cooktop,. If a particular food is not listed, start with the medium setting. If more crispness is desired, remove the lid or aluminum foil. There is no need to preheat the oven for roasting meat or baking casseroles. The cooking times and temperatures needed to bake a product may vary slightly from your previously. Preheating Preheating is suggested when searing rare steaks. (Remove the broiler pan before preheating. Foods will stick if placed on hot metal.) To preheat, set the oven control(s) to BROILas instructed in the Owner's Guide. Wait for the element to become red-hot, usually about 2 minutes. Ceramic glass cleaning cream. DO NOT USE ON CERAMIC GLASS COOKTOP Avoid pads, that can leave marks and scratches. A lift-up rod will support the top in its raised position. Only lift the top high enough to allow the support rod to rest in place under the front of the cooktop. To FRAME clean, use hot soapy water and a cloth. Large spillovers can cause heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high temperatures. General Cleaning (contin.ed) Removable Outer Door Glass Panel (some models) Applicable only to models with an external glass panel not held with a frame. This design allows you to clean the inside face of the exterior door panel as well as the hidden face of the door inner glass. Replace or tighten bulb. See Changing Oven Light in this Owner's Guide for instructions.

If the condensate from the cooling coils is drained away from the room as it drips off the cooling coils, the result will be room air that is drier but slightly warmer. To be effective as a dehumidifier, an air conditioner must be designed or modified so that most or all of the water that condenses is drained away in liquid form, rather than re-evaporated. Even if condensate is drained, a modified air conditioner is still less efficient than a single-purpose appliance with a design optimized for dehumidification. Dehumidifiers are designed to pass air directly over the cooling coils and then the heating coils in a single efficient pass through the device.A thermostat is not designed for the control of humidity, and controls it poorly if at all.The ice buildup can impede airflow and eventually form a solid block encasing the coils. This buildup prevents the dehumidifier from operating effectively, and can cause water damage if condensed water drips off the accumulated ice and not into the collection tray. In extreme cases, the ice can deform or distort mechanical elements, causing permanent damage. These will turn off the machine and allow the ice-covered coils to warm and defrost. Once defrosted, the machine will automatically restart. Most ice sensors are simple thermal switches and do not directly sense the presence or absence of ice buildup. An alternative design senses the impeded airflow and shuts off the cooling coils in a similar manner. The design is simpler and has the benefit of being quieter compared to a dehumidifier with a mechanical compressor. However, because of its relatively poor Coefficient of Performance, this design is mainly used for small dehumidifiers. Ice buildup may be a problem, similar to problems with refrigeration dehumidifiers. You can help by adding to it. ( August 2011 ) The desiccant can be mounted on a belt or other means of transporting it during a cycle of operation.

They are often used in various sectors in industry so that humidity levels below 35% can be achieved.Desiccant dehumidifiers can also operate at lower temperatures than compressor dehumidifiers as the unit does not rely on cooled coils for which the moisture condensing efficiency decreases at lower temperatures. The process also requires very little electrical energy to operate, using no moving parts, making the ionic membranes silent in operation and very reliable over long periods of time. SPE dehumidifiers are typically used to protect sensitive electrical components, medical equipment, museum specimens, or scientific apparatus from humid environments.Today the warm condensation technology based on the concept of over-saturated steam inside a closed environment makes it possible to dehumidify air at sub-zero temperatures. This is a very energy efficient technology and equally efficient in all temperatures. Some dehumidifier models can tie into plumbing drains or use a built-in water pump to empty themselves as they collect moisture. Alternatively, a separate condensate pump may be used to move collected water to a disposal location when gravity drainage is not possible. If the condensate water is directed into the sewer system, it should be suitably trapped to prevent septic odors and sewer gases from entering the building. The condensate should not be directed into a septic system of a house, because it doesn’t need to be treated as effluent. When the height of the air handler (containing the evaporator) is above the level of the surface drains used for rain water the condensate drain lines can often be routed into them. Air handlers located below grade level, e.g. the basement of a house, may need to use a condensate pump to lift the water to a surface drain.Condensate would only be exposed to tin-lead solder in copper drain pipe, but lead is particularly dangerous. These trace metals may pose a danger if used on edible plants, as they can bioaccumulate.

Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. It can be used for household, commercial, or industrial applications. There are two types of dehumidifiers - condensate dehumidifiers and desiccant dehumidifiers.Cheap domestic units contain single-use hydrophilic substance cartridges, gel, and powder. Larger commercial units contain hot air recovery systems in order to remove humid air from outside the room.Since the saturation vapor pressure of water decreases with decreasing temperature, the water in the air condenses on the surface, separating the water from the air. They work by drawing moist air over a refrigerated evaporator with a fan. There are 3 main types of evaporators. They are coiled tube, fin and tube, and microchannel technology. The now dehumidified, re-warmed air is released into the room. This process works most effectively at higher ambient temperatures with a high dew point temperature. In cold climates, the process is less effective.A standard air conditioner transfers heat energy out of the room because its condenser coil releases heat outside. However, since all components of the dehumidifier are in the same room, no heat energy is removed.

Instead, the electric power consumed by the dehumidifier remains in the room as heat, so the room is actually heated, just as by an electric heater that draws the same amount of power. The dehumidification process is the inverse of adding water to the room with an evaporative cooler, and instead releases heat. Therefore, an in-room dehumidifier will always warm the room and reduce the relative humidity indirectly, as well as reducing the humidity more directly, by condensing and removing water. This air passes into a crossflow plate heat exchanger (B) where a substantial proportion of the sensible heat is transferred to a cool supply air stream. This process brings the extracted air close to saturation. The air then passes to the plenum chamber of the extract fan (C) where a portion of it may be rejected to outside. The amount that is rejected can be varied and isThe balance of the air then passes into the evaporator coil of the heat pump where it is cooled and the moisture is condensed. This process yields substantial amounts of latent energy to the refrigeration circuit. Fresh air is then introduced to replace the amount that was extracted and the mix is discharged by the supply fan (G) to the crossflow plate exchanger (B) where it is heated by the extract air from the pool. This pre-warmed air then passes through the heat pump condenser (F) where it is heated by the latent energy removed during the condensation process as well as the energy input to the compressor.Instead, the refrigerant is pumped by the compressor to a condenser which is located outside the room to be conditioned, and the heat is then released to the outside air.Newer high-efficiency window units use the condensed water to help cool the condenser coil by evaporating the water into the outdoor air, while older units simply allowed the water to drip outside.

However, the water is usable for irrigation of ornamental plants and lawns. Unlike in distilled water production, the water is not boiled, which would kill pathogens (including bacteria). The devices are primarily intended to produce pure water, and the dehumidifying effect is viewed as secondary to their operation.Because of the volume of airflow through the appliance, dust buildup needs to be removed so it does not impede airflow; many designs feature removable and washable air filters. Condensate collection trays and containers may need occasional cleaning to remove debris buildup and prevent clogging of drainage passages, which can cause water leakage and overflow, if large amounts of certain particulates or dust are collected then this may need to be performed more often to avoid microbial growth.Retrieved 13 February 2015.
